Berdyev asks for time in fraud case

Russian Federation,Sports, Tue, 11 Dec 2012 IANS

Moscow, Dec 11 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Rubin Kazan football coach Kurban Berdyev has asked Russian police for more time to answer questions on an alleged 400,000 euros fraud case involving Turkey international Gokhan Tore.

Tore signed from Hamburg in the summer in a reported 3 million euros move, but has only made six appearances for the Tatarstan club since.

Last month, Tore's representative Georg Yablukov sent a letter to Tatarstan president Rustam Minnikhanov claiming that Berdyev had a hand in attempting to extort 400,000 euros from him for the deal.

Berdyev had called the case "a cynical attempt to discredit football club Rubin and reputation of people who are assigned with these illegal actions."

Tore, 20, left Russia late November and is reportedly still in Turkey. He signed a four-year deal with Rubin.

Rubin stand seventh in the Russian Premier League after 19 matches and made it into the knockout stages of the Europa League.
