Washington, Dec. 2 (ANI): Robert Thomson, the managing editor of The Wall Street Journal and editor in chief of Dow Jones, is expected to be named CEO of News Corp's new publishing company.
Gerard Baker, the deputy editor of the Journal, is expected to take over as managing editor, Politico reports.
News Corp's new publishing company is part of a split that Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch announced in June, wherein the lucrative entertainment division - including Fox News - will split from the more financially challenged publishing division, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, and a number of UK and Australian papers.
Murdoch will remain chairman and CEO of the entertainment company, but only as chairman of the publishing company.
Thomson's appointment as publishing head could have major ramifications for the U.S. print media market, especially as News Corp eyes possible acquisitions of the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune and struggles with losses at the New York Post, the paper said. (ANI)
