Imphal, Dec.2 (ANI): A UK-based soccer coach recently undertook a visit to Manipur and shared his experience and football playing skills with budding players from the state at a camp.
Legendary coach Richard Alderson of London's Preston north End Club was at the Thokchom Birachandra Singh Football Academy for a week-long coaching session with an aim to provide world-class training to grass-roots level players.
The coach was impressed with the young footballers.
"They try hard, they have good fighting spirit and they are hard physically, they are not soft as city boys. So, all of them know how to play football," Alderson said.
One day, players from this academy will reach the level of world-class footballers like Messi and Ronaldo," added TH Dilip Kumar Singh, General Secretary, TBSFA.
The sessions with the international coach have boosted the morale of the budding soccer players.
"Such training is very good and I have learnt a lot. And, this is the first time that I am getting such training and I hope that such camp will organized again so that we can improve further in the future," said Naorem Tondonba, a player.
Many players from the Northeast have represented the country in international tournaments, and many young footballers are all set to follow in their footsteps. (ANI)
