Michael Chopra on verge of bankruptcy, says ex-wife
London, Nov 26 (ANI): Michael Chopra's former wife Heather Swan has revealed that the footballer has his own financial problems and could be "on the verge of bankruptcy".
The 30-year-old, who appeared in Newcastle Magistrates' Court over a speeding offence, has escaped a driving ban after she claimed that neither of them could afford to send their son to his school in Newcastle - which is 10 miles away in Medburn - in a taxi.
The mother-of-one was caught going at the speed of 36mph in a 30mph zone but already had nine points on her license.
The model revealed both her and her former husband's financial woes, when the prosecutor Paul Clark questioned Swan if Ipswich Town player could pay the taxi fares.
"My ex-husband has his own financial difficulties and actually could be on the verge of bankruptcy himself," the Daily Star quoted Swan as saying.
Swan got away with a fine of 90 pounds and three points on her license, as the magistrate accepted her excuse of hardship and agreed not to disqualify her. (ANI)
