Clarke says 'Mr. Invisible' Hussey not getting due appreciation
Sydney, Nov 23(ANI): Australia captain Michael Clarke believes in form batsman Michael Hussey is not getting the appreciation he deserves after the veteran scored his second century of the series against South Africa in Adelaide.
Hussey, also referred to as Mr. Cricket at times, has turned to Mr. Invisible again in the mighty shadow cast by Clarke's superb form.
Hussey made 103 against South Africa on Thursday's opening day of the second Test in Adelaide, but as usual Clarke took the limelight with 224 not out.
Hussey made 100 in the drawn series opener in Brisbane, but Clarke there also held the spotlight with 259 not out, and last summer also Hussey made 150 against India at the SCG, but there too Clarke was the shining light with 329 not out.
"I do believe there has been a few occasions where Huss's hundreds have been swept under the carpet. His form is unbelievable, the way he is playing as well, he is walking in at number six and playing with great intent," News.com.au quoted Clarke, as saying.
Hussey's 18th Test century took his career average again beyond 50 and Clarke hailed his support, and that of David Warner (119), as the Proteas wilted in Adelaide.
"There is obviously a lot of respect for how good a player he is, but a lot of credit needs to go to Huss. And Davey as well," Clarke said.
"The way they played up the other end made my life and my job a lot easier ... and that gets forgotten a lot of the time, how important your partner is when you have success," he added. (ANI)
