London, Nov 17 (IANS) A former police officer in Britain has been sentenced to two years in prison over misconduct in a public office after admitting to have had sexual relationships with victims of crime.
Former Nottinghamshire police constable Simon Jones, 33, slept with one woman while on duty and in uniform after taking a statement at her home, and with a second while being on his way to work for a night shift, reported Daily Mail.
A court heard, Jones targeted the "vulnerable" women with "unparalleled persistence, vigour and enthusiasm". He pleaded guilty to two counts of misconduct in a public office at a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court.
He wept as the offences against him were outlined.
Jones, who moved to South Wales after resigning from Nottinghamshire Police in September, was sentenced Friday to two years in prison at Nottingham Crown Court.
Following the case, senior officers described Jones' behaviour as "reprehensible" and a "shocking abuse of power".
