Snowstorm hits NY neighbourhoods damaged by Superstorm Sandy

New York, Thu, 08 Nov 2012 ANI

New York, Nov 8 (ANI): Now, sleet, snow and gusty winds have hit thousands Americans trying to recover from the damage caused by last week's devastating Superstorm Sandy.

Storm survivors from the Rockaways to Red Hook and Staten Island endured frigid temperatures in blacked-out homes with no heat, choosing not to evacuate and risk break-ins and looting.

The New York Post quoted AccuWeather meteorologist Erik Pindrock, as saying that 'the wind, the snow and the cold is just rubbing salt in the wounds that were already open as a result of Sandy.'

According to the paper, snowfall totals hit 6 inches in parts of the city, with more than seven in Westchester and as much as ten in southern Connecticut.

The city warned residents of the most at-risk areas to leave, but many people were already gone or refused to come to the door, the report said. (ANI)
