AVB says 'no interest in selling or loaning' Adebayor

London , Thu, 08 Nov 2012 ANI

London, Nov. 8 (ANI): Tottenham Spur's boss Andre Villas-Boas has insisted he will not be selling or loaning Emmanuel Adebayor, and said the former Man City star is "one of the greatest strikers in the world".

It comes after Villas-Boas preferred to use Jermain Defoe as his lone striker this term, prompting speculation Adebayor was already looking to quit Spurs in search of first team football.

Adebayor scored 18 goals in a successful loan spell at White Hart Lane last season but has not started a game since he joined on a permanent 5 million pound deal from Manchester City in the summer.

But the Portuguese insists the Togo star is part of his plans, the Daily Mirror reports.

"Certainly there is no interest in selling or loaning (Adebayor). We brought him in this season, unfortunately for him it hasn't been working out in terms of injuries," AVB said.

"We have full belief in Adebayor, he is one of the greatest strikers in the world. Sooner or later he is going to be back in the squad," he added.

Adebayor is likely to start against Maribor in Thursday night's Europa League tie, the report said. (ANI)
