London, Oct 25(ANI): Veteran Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has warned teammates that they can't keep relying on the strikers to rescue them every time after conceding early goals throughout the season.
Giggs said United cannot bank on Chelsea caving in during their Premier League clash next Sunday, as other sides have done this season despite their change in style and personnel.
Shoddy defending has resulted in United conceding the first goal in eight games this season, as their hectic 3-2 win over Braga in Champions League showed on Tuesday when they hit back from 2-0 down.
But Giggs, who is Old Trafford's longest-serving player, insisted it has to stop at Stamford Bridge.
"There are two ways of looking at us falling behind in games. Obviously the positive aspect is that we have shown great character to come back and win six of those eight games. It shows we have the quality and goals in the team," the Daily Express quoted Giggs, as saying.
"But you cannot keep going behind throughout a season and having to rely on the lads up front to score the goals," he added.
"It is something we have looked at and are still looking at. If we go behind against Chelsea it will be tough to come back. We recognise we cannot afford to let Chelsea get too far ahead in the table. They are already four points in front and have got off to a good start so it is a big game," he said. (ANI)
