Discussions over Fergie's successor underway at Man U

London, Wed, 24 Oct 2012 ANI

London, Oct. 24 (ANI): Manchester United have confirmed that discussions regarding who will eventually replace Alex Ferguson as the club's next manager are under way.

Fergie will be 71 on New Year's Eve and vice-chairman Ed Woodward, not revealing much, only confirmed that the club is preparing for the day when the legendary Scot finally hangs up his hairdryer.

"We have a view as to what type of manager we want and how and when we'll go about it. But it's in the drawer and long may it stay in the drawer," The Sun quoted Woodward, as saying.

Woodward's comments would apparently come as a surprise to the United boss who has never been asked for thoughts on who his successor should be.

Ferguson had said earlier this year: "I don't think another two or three years would harm me. Never discussed it - it is a dangerous game."

Woodward also claimed that the Glazer family would not sell United for "many, many years," the report said.

The Glazers are still under fire from fans over the amount of money borrowed to buy the club in 2005, it added. (ANI)
