New Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS) In a major effort to build "Brand India" in China, over 80 Indian companies will take part in a trade show in Beijing Oct 26-28 to look for synergistic business engagements.
India's presence in China has increased over the years. In a year designated as "Year of India-China Friendship and Cooperation", the show is expected to help Indian companies to tap the opportunities in China.
The commerce ministry Tuesday said the "India Show" would provide an opportunity for Indian and Chinese firms to interact and explore new areas of cooperation and take Sino-Indian strategic ties to a new level.
Bilateral trade in 2011 stood at $74 billion. Both countries have set a target of $100 billion by 2015.
During the expo, a 19-member business delegation led by S. Gopalakrishnan, Infosys executive co-chairman, will meet Chinese leaders and discuss enhancing trade and investment.
The India Show is organised concurrently with the sixth international auto parts expo in the Chinese capital.
It will showcase a variety of high quality auto parts of engine, body and chassis systems, high technology equipment and parts, innovative hybrid energy parts along with maintenance and tuning equipment and general components.
With Chinese automobile companies expressing keen interest in Indian market, the show will provide an opportunity to explore new collaborations with Indian auto parts firms in the development of supply chain.
The expo will be a platform to explore multiple collaborations and share the progressive and future-ready component industry of India.
The ministry is organising the expo with the CII and the Indian embassy in Beijing.
It is supported, among others, by the Chinese commerce ministry, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, and Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India.
CII will organise Friday an India-China Business Seminar where leading Indian corporates like the Tata and Aditya Birla group and companies such as Reliance Industries, Infosys, Mahindra and Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro and NIIT will take part.
