PCB chief seeks expertise of Gavaskar, Akram on proposed Pakistan Premier League
Islamabad, Oct. 4 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf has met former Indian batting master Sunil Gavaskar and former fast bowler Wasim Akram to get their inputs on the proposed Pakistan Premier league (PPL) to be organised in the near future.
Asharf, who is in Sri Lanka to watch the ongoing World T20, discussed in length the holding of the PPL with Gavaskar who assured his all out support to make the event a big success, reports the Daily Times.
"It is a good step for the development of cricket in Pakistan and the holding of PPL will be a step forward for bringing international cricket to Pakistan," Gavaskar was quoted, as saying.
"Zaka invited Gavaskar to visit Pakistan who accepted the invitation and also assured him (Zaka) that he will endeavour to bring former Test cricketers to Pakistan to discuss the holding of the PPL," a PCB spokesman said.
Zaka had a similar meeting with Wasim on the organisation of PPL and promotion of cricket in Pakistan.
"Wasim also assured the chairman that he would put up his suggestions for the holding the PPL and termed it a positive effort for bringing back international cricket to Pakistan," added the PCB spokesman.
According to the spokesman, Zaka also asked Wasim to help develop cricket in Pakistan, especially in grooming of pace bowlers at the National Cricket Academy. Wasim assured Ashraf that he would be glad to play any role as far as development of cricket or training of young cricketers are concerned, the paper reported. (ANI)
