Difficult times ahead for Musharraf as pressure mounts in Bugti case

Islamabad, Mon, 01 Oct 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Oct. 1 (ANI): Former president Pervez Musharraf will have to prepare for difficult times ahead as pressure mounts to bring him to book over military actions and the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti in Balochistan.

The demand for bringing Musharraf to book increased after the Pakistan Army made clear that no military operation in Balochistan had been conducted since General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani took over as the Army Chief, and the recent visit of UN Working Group on Forced Disappearances to Pakistan, reports The Nation.

Highly placed individuals, including political leaders and retired civil as well as military officials, see the six-point charter of former Balochistan chief minister and Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal as a pressure tactic by a handful of Baloch leaders to bring Musharraf to book.

The support of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) to the six points of Mengal will step up the pressure against Musharraf, the report said.

Musharraf's party- All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) - could not be reached for comments despite repeated attempts, it added. (ANI)
