Henman backs Murray to win many more Grand Slam titles

London, Wed, 12 Sep 2012 ANI

London, Sept. 12 (ANI): Former British number 1. Tim Henman expects US Open Champion Andy Murray to go on and win multiple Grand Slams after he defeated defending champion Novak Djokovic in a thriller final.

Britain finally has a male Grand Slam singles champion for the first time in 76 years following Murray's win.

"I definitely see him going on to win more (grand slam titles)," Henman said.

"How many he can win only time will tell. The confidence of the Olympics and this will give him so much confidence," he added.

According to stuff.co.nz, Murray's first season under coach Ivan Lendl this year also brought him an Olympic gold medal in London before his win in New York.

"It was certainly his time. The most important aspects were his resilience, both mentally and physically. He remained calm and was able to produce the goods and really it was Djokovic who was struggling at the end," Henman added.

According to the report, his popularity levels after Monday's blockbuster are now soaring and he looks perfectly placed for an assault on more grand slam titles next year and even a tilt at becoming the world No 1. (ANI)
