One dead as small plane crashes in China lake

Beijing, Aug 19 (IANS) The pilot of a small aircraft died and and two people were injured when their plane crashed into a lake in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur region.

The aircraft crashed into the Bosten Lake, a tourist spot in Bohu county, Xinhua reported.

The pilot drowned due to a faulty seat belt. The two passengers were rescued.

The private aircraft, owned by a businessman, was used for sightseeing.

Bosten Lake, located on the northern edge of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, is the largest inland freshwater lake in China. Its water area covers over 1,600 square km.
