Reuters website 'hacked' for third time in month

London, Fri, 17 Aug 2012 ANI

London, Aug 17 (ANI): UK-based news agency Reuters has fallen victim to computer hackers for the third time in a month, with an article falsely claiming that Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Saud al-Faisal had died.

Reuters admitted that it was hacked on Tuesday, and added that they were working to address the problem.

"Reuters.com was a target of a hack on Tuesday. Our blogging platform was compromised and a fabricated blog post saying Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal had died was illegally posted on a Reuters journalist's blog on Reuters.com," the BBC quoted a spokesperson, as saying.

"Reuters did not report the false story and the post was immediately deleted. We are working to address the problem," the spokesperson added.

Hackers first attacked blogging platform at the beginning of August, with claims that the Syrian rebel army was on the retreat.

Two days later the agency's tech news Twitter feed was taken over and pro-Syrian government messages posted. (ANI)
