Victoria Pendleton dreams of being on dance show 'Strictly Come Dancing'

London, August 13 (ANI): Victoria Pendleton, who announced retirement from track cycling last week after winning gold and silver medals at the London Olympics, has said that she would like to swap her Lycra for a ballgown on dance show 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

"If they asked me I'd definitely consider it," the Telegraph quoted her as telling a Sunday newspaper.

"I can't dance and I've always wanted to be able to, so I'd really enjoy that. Plus, I've been in sweaty Lycra for the last I don't know how many years, so being in a sparkly frock and high heels really appeals to me.

"Instead of wearing a helmet it will be lovely to have my hair smooth and sleek. I'm really into my beauty products, it's been my one indulgence. I haven't been able to drink and don't go out so tottering around the beauty counter is the only way I've rewarded myself," she said.

On being asked about defending her two titles at the Rio Olympics in 2016, Pendleton said that she hadn't "got it in" her.

"There is no way I want to contest another Olympics to get that accolade. I haven't got it in me," she said.

She said her overriding emotion was "relief" and she was looking forward to leading a "guilt-free life".

"It's going to take me a while to recondition myself into not feeling guilty or having the mindset of an athlete...I won't have to drink another protein shake ever again, hallelujah!"

The 31-year-old also revealed that she would like to coach girls' cycling.

"I think there is a very big lack of understanding of the female athlete within sport. Men thrive in the atmosphere well, coached by men, in a male environment. There is a need for more women in lead roles in elite sport because they are the only ones who understand what it's like," she said.

"You can try so hard to act like a man. They were always pushing me, telling me to be harder and more of a bitch, more assertive, but it's hard work trying to be someone that doesn't come naturally," she added. (ANI)
