London mayor doesn't want to be PM

United Kingdom,Politics, Thu, 09 Aug 2012 IANS

London, Aug 9 (IANS) London Mayor Boris Johnson has said that at the moment he does not want to challenge David Cameron for the post of prime minister.

Johnson said rumours about his challenge for the Tory leadership were a "silly season story", The Sun reported.

"At the moment, I certainly don't want to be prime minister," the mayor said.

Johnson joked about how he got stuck on a zip wire at an event for the London Olympics.

"How on earth could you elect that guy? How could anybody elect a prat who gets stuck on a zip wire," he said.

The comments came after Cameron praised the mayor's "brilliant role" in building the "feel-good factor" in London.

Asked if Johnson would be a good prime minister, Cameron said he still had four years to serve as mayor.
