Washington, Aug.6 (ANI): Authorities in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, U.S., including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, are searching a house in the area linked to the suspect involved in Sunday's terror strike on a Sikh gurdwara that claimed six lives.
Fox News reports that the anti-terror force (ATF), the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and Cudahy Police, are also taking part in the search of the house, and are treating the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism.
A source close to the case told Fox News that the suspect is a white male in his 40s and a former military member.
Police was called in on Sunday to respond to the shooting at the Sikh Temple in the Wisconsin suburb of Oak Creek, where witnesses said several dozen people had gathered for a prayer service.
Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards said the shooting suspect ambushed and opened fire on a 20-year veteran officer who was attending to a victim at the scene, but was later shot dead.
At a news conference, Edwards did not provide any information about the suspect, including his identity, or a possible motive.
But during the home search, Kurt Weins, a Cudahy resident, said that he had rented out the upper flat of the duplex to a man in his 40s.
Edwards said the FBI would lead the investigation because the shootings are being treated as an act of domestic terrorism. (ANI)
