London, July 20 (ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, 70, has admitted he needs to take it easy at his age, although he brushed aside any fears about his health.
Ferguson's health was in focus when he suffered a heavy nosebleed at a charity dinner in Glasgow days after relinquishing the Premier League title to noisy neigbour Manchester City, leading to assumption that next season might be his last.
But, Ferguson said the scare was simply due to a gruelling schedule of seven flights in as many days, rather than any ongoing issues with his health.
"I just took too many flights that week. I had seven of them in a week. I think it was a bit silly to be flying as much as I did.Belfast, Berlin, Glasgow to Manchester, then back to Belfast. It was something like seven flights in seven days," The Daily Mirror quoted Ferguson, as saying.
"We're all vulnerable to age, aren't we? There's no question about that. Age doesn't come without penalties and maybe that was a way of telling me to slow down a bit in terms of traveling," he added.
Ferguson further said: "But it's not as if it was anything to do with my heart, obviously. When the club doctor explained what he thought it seemed reasonable to me. He said, 'Look, you've just done too much flying', with things like cabin pressure playing a part." (ANI)
