Usain Bolt's $23,500-statue points the wrong way

United Kingdom,Sports, Thu, 19 Jul 2012 IANS

London, July 19 (IANS) A city council in Britain has unveiled a statue of sprinter Usain Bolt, costing 15,000 pounds (about $23,500), but it has a fault -- the model shows the world record holder in his famous pose pointing, but on the wrong side.

The six-feet-tall statue, ordered by the Birmingham City Council and made of wicker, a hard woven fiber, shows the five-time World and three-time Olympic gold medallist Jamaican runner raising his right arm -- even though the sprinter, based in Birmingham, always lifts his left, The Sun reported.

Unfazed by the criticism, the council, however, said: "Next you'll say the face doesn't look like him."
