London, July 16 (ANI): Ace British boxer David Haye has said that his rehab is complete after beating Dereck Chisora in a grudge bout at Upton Park, and added that Ukranian Vitali Klitschko will be running scared from him after his recent victory.
Haye's fifth-round knockout win over Chisora in Saturday's bout at Upton Park banished memories of his woeful world title fight against Klitschko's brother Wladimir a year ago.
Haye surrendered his WBA heavyweight crown on points to Wladimir in an awful unification clash. His revelation afterwards that he had fought with a broken toe did little to ease the pain he had inflicted on his fans, or the damage he had done to his reputation.
But there is no doubt he restored his tarnished image with a thunderous victory over Chisora in front of 30,000 fans, The Sun reports.
Afterwards Haye declared: "My rehab is complete now. All the problems I had before the fight with Wladimir have been smoothed out and I feel so much better.
"They say you are only as good as your last fight and my last fight was a spectacular one against a very tough, very durable Dereck Chisora someone who pushed Vitali Klitschko to the wire."
Haye became the first man to knock out Chisora. In fact, he put him on the mat twice in the fifth before ref Luis Pabon rightly stopped the fight.
The former WBA champion caused a surprise at Upton Park before a punch had even been thrown by fighting in running shoes.
Haye said: "The last time I fought, against Wladimir, it was raining. I wore boxing boots and it all got messy down there. So this time I didn't want to leave anything to chance. I had two different sets of footwear and if it had been dry I would have worn the other set. It worked out fine and I wasn't slipping around. It was just a precautionary measure." (ANI)
