'All franchisees in Lankan Premiere League not sponsored by Indian companies'

Islamabad, Mon, 09 Jul 2012 ANI

Islamabad, July 9(ANI): Sandeep Bhammer, who is the CEO of Somerset Entertainment Ventures (SEV) that has acquired the overall sponsorship rights to partner Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in the Sri Lankan Premier League (SLPL), has denied claims that all franchisees in the tournament have been sponsored by Indian companies.

When asked during an exclusive interview with PakPassion.net, Bhammer denied the rumour.

"That's not true. In fact one of the companies is called Varun Beverages Lanka Private Limited which is a Sri Lankan company and also there is another which is based out of Hong Kong whose founders have varied interest in different industries," Bhammer said.

"Then you have five companies that are from India who have bought the franchises. Its only natural that companies from the sub-continent will participate as Sri Lanka will be an immediate opportunity for them to exploit because of the geographical proximity," he added. (ANI)
