Chelsea ace Lampard shocked by Beckham's Olympic snub

London, Sun, 08 Jul 2012 ANI

London, July 8(ANI): Veteran Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has said he was surprised to see good friend and former Manchester United star David Beckham getting snubbed by Team GB for the London Olympics.

Lampard believes Becks had earned the right to feature at London 2012, because not only is he still playing well enough, but also because of the work he did to bring the Games to the British capital.

"After the way he was so heavily involved in getting the Games to London then yes I did think he would be playing at the Olympics. I know what Becks is like - he is so passionate about his country," The Sun quoted Lampard, as saying.

"I know he would have gone full pelt for Team GB. And I think his big personality and presence would have been a major plus for the squad. So it was a big surprise to me when he was left out especially after he was included in the initial squad," he added. (ANI)
