London, June 28(ANI): An animal right group, Tierschutzbund has expressed concern over the scaling obsession within Germany to predict the right outcome of the Euro Cup through their pets in a bid to gain popularity just like Paul the psychic octopus did during the World Cup 2010.

Two years after the death of popular pundit Paul the octopus, a range of pets are now being deployed to 'predict' which football team will win.

However, Yvonne the cow, Kasimir the alpaca and Xaver the bulldog and various similar pets have upset German animal rights activists.

The Tierschutzbund Group has said it was worried animal predictions had been overused during the tournament.

"These days, everybody who has an animal seems to put it in front of a camera," The BBC quoted Marius Tunte of Tierschutzbund, as saying.

The group said the use of animals as psychics endangered the dignity of the creatures.ierschutzbund took exacting exception to an internet radio station which used a python called Ado. The snake was offered the choice of two rats, one with a stripe representing Germany and the other without a stripe representing Denmark.

"Unnecessary suffering is being inflicted purely for the sake of enjoyment," the group further said.

Some of various animal soothsayers in Germany are like Emma the pig, who picks a team according to which door she runs through for food.

The otters, Ferret and Mormel, in a zoo in the town of Aue, are sporadic in their forecasting roles, and Nelly the elephant can kick a ball into one of two goals draped with the appropriate flags to make her predictions

Two tortoises, Sissi and Franz, make their predictions for a radio station in Baden-Wurttemberg by going to one trough or the other and if they go different ways, it will be a draw. (ANI)
