London, June 25 (IANS) Actor Andrew Garfield, who plays Peter Parker in "The Amazing Spider-Man", almost suffocated himself on the set of the movie as he did not learn proper breathing techniques required for the sequence.

"I had to get wet, and I just kind of dove in and did not realise that water on the mask made it impossible to breathe. So I was kind of, like, suffocating. I could not get any oxygen! I water-boarded myself," contactmusic.com quoted the 28-year-old as saying.

His fight coordinator, Andy Armstrong, saw the actor struggling and jumped in to free him from the outfit.
