London, June 23 (ANI): The stars of women's tennis were present at the WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party at Kensington's Roof Gardens but one unwanted guest - the British weather - threatened to cause havoc.
Strong winds caused problems for the organizers of the event, with one particularly strong gust blowing over a sponsor's board outside Sir Richard Branson's event, the Mirror reported.
The board toppled over, landing on one unsuspecting bystander, and then hit one of the expensive sponsored cars which had been hired to ferry the WTA stars to and from the event.
The car in question had been carrying former Wimbledon champion Venus Williams, who had to remain in the car while the organisers and bystanders removed the board before she could head to her hotel.
The weather forecast for the first few days of the tournament has suggested that the conditions at SW19 will be changeable, with cloudy weather punctuated by occasional showers. (ANI)
