London, June 15(ANI): McLaren driver Jensen Button has refused to give up hope of clinching his second Formula One driver's championship title despite trailing his teammate Lewis Hamilton by 43 points.
The 2009 world champ has slumped down the table after failing to score points in Canada, Monaco and Bahrain.
Button won the first race of the season in Australia, but has been leapfrogged by his McLaren teammate Hamilton, plus Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, who are second and third, respectively.
"Is the championship over or not? I don't know. I think we can still have some great races. We just have to sort ourselves out. I don't think there are just three contenders. There are eight people in front of me all doing a great job, so it's very tough," The Sun quoted Button, as saying.
"I'm not giving up but I'm not thinking about the championship anyway. When you've had a race like I did in Canada, you don't think about the championship," Button added.
"You just think about solving your issues and getting back to the form where you expect to be fighting for wins," he said. (ANI)
