Lahore, May 31 (ANI): All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) founder Pervez Musharraf, after failing to garner political support for the APML, is now making efforts to gather the support of ex-servicemen in a bid to broaden the base of his party.
According to sources, Musharraf, after being deserted by several known political faces, has planned to build his support base with ex-servicemen of army, air force and navy, with the promise of protecting their interests after coming into power, reports The Nation.
Sources added that Musharraf has asked several of his former colleagues to woo maximum number of the ex-servicemen to vote for the APML.
The 'Pakistan First Forum', headed by Musharraf has already been launched to gather the ex-servicemen at a single platform in the first phase, sources further added.
They said the forum has held three functions in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore in which they gathered several retired Lieutenant Generals, Major Generals, Brigadiers, Air Vice Marshals, Admirals and scores of retired officers below these ranks.
Major General (retd) Rashid Qureshi, a close aide of Musharraf, has claimed that the Ex-Servicemen Society founded by Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Ali Chisti, which has 95,000 members, have already expressed their willingness to support Musharraf. (ANI)
