London, May 28 (ANI): Norway defender Brede Hangeland has said the England team is tired after an exhausting Premier League season.
"It's a good England team, but they look a little worn after a long Premier League season," the Daily Mirror quoted Hangeland, as saying.
The Fulham centre-half, after sharing a warm embrace with former club boss and now England manager Roy Hodgson after Saturday's game in Oslo, claimed the trials of the season have already taken a toll on England.
"I felt the same thing. It's not a good preparation for the Euros to play such a long and tough season as you do in England. Even if it was a friendly you could see that the English players need a break," he said.
"It's unusual that a Norwegian team has so much possession. Normally we play defensive and wait for the opponent to make a mistake, but today it was the other way around," he added.
However, despite Hangeland's views, Craven Cottage team-mate John Arne Riise felt England were merely 'shadow boxing'.
"I think you will see completely different England team in the Euros when they get all their players back. We worked hard and kept possession well. England will get better." (ANI)
