Kathmandu, May 27 (Xinhua-ANI): With the looming deadline of the Constituent Assembly on May 27 in Nepal, security in the capital Kathmandu has been beefed up in order to avert any untoward incidents.
As many as 10,000 security personnel have been deployed in the capital fearing possible clashes among different agitating groups.
Spokesperson of the Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh confirmed that a large number of security personnel have been deployed to maintain security in the capital especially in sensitive areas.
He said a total of 640 security personnel have been deployed at Baneshwor area under the command of Deputy Superintendents of Police Basanta Pant and Shanti Basnet to watch out for possible protests or rallies in the area.
Singh said additional 3,400 personnel from the Nepal Police and 1,400 from the Armed Police Force along with 200 security personnel in plain clothes have been deployed from today in the capital.
According to the National News Agency RSS report, trained dogs and a large number of security forces have been deployed at the areas of the Office of the President, the Vice-President, the Prime Minister and residential areas of top leaders of major political parties.
The bomb disposal team, water tanks and police van were also in preparedness in the capital. (Xinhua-ANI)
