Five killed in Iraq violence

Baghdad, May 26 (IANS) Some five people were killed and four injured in Iraq Saturday in separate bomb and gunfire attacks, police said.

At least three soldiers were killed in Nineveh province after a roadside bomb went off near their patrol, Xinhua quoted a source as saying.

Gunfire was exchanged in Tarmiyan town near Baghdad after some gunmen attacked a leader's car, said an interior ministry source.

The clash left two of the attackers killed and wounded one of the leader's bodyguards, the source added.

In Diyala province, an army officer and a soldier were wounded when gunmen attacked them while patrolling, a police source said.

In a separate incident, a young man was injured when a roadside bomb exploded near his house in Jalawlaa town, about 130 km from Baghdad.
