NATO soldier killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, May 22 (Xinhua-ANI): Taliban-linked activities claimed the life of a soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan on Monday, the alliance said in a statement released here Tuesday.

"One International Security Assistance Force service member died following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan yesterday," the statement added.

However, it did not reveal the nationality of the victim, saying its is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.

Troops mostly from U.S. have been stationed in the eastern region of Afghanistan.

More than 160 NATO soldiers with majority of them Americans have been killed in the militancy-hit Afghanistan since beginning this year. (Xinhua-ANI)
