Chelsea flop Shevchenko in line for shock Stamford Bridge return as coach

London , Tue, 22 May 2012 ANI

London, May 22(ANI): Former Chelsea player Andriy Shevchenko, who was branded as a big money flop during his time at the club, is in frame to take a coaching role at Stamford Bridge, if he decides to end his illustrious career after the Euro Cup.

Shevchenko is still a member of the Dynamo Kiev squad, but he has been a regular visitor to Chelsea's training ground this season, and has been watching the team train while monitoring methods on a frequent basis as he recovers from injury, The Daily Mail reports.

Despite his terrible spell at Chelsea, when the striker scored just nine goals in 48 games after signing from Milan in 2006, he remains close friends with owner Roman Abramovich.

Shevchenko will lead Ukraine for whom he has more than 100 caps and has scored 46 times at this summer's European Championship before deciding whether to quit playing at the end of the tournament.

Shevchenko has confided to his former club's stars that he can take up a coaching role at Stamford Bridge if he decides to call time on his illustrious playing career, during which he won the Champions League, Super Cup, Scudetto and Italian Cup and became European Footballer of the Year in 2004 while at Milan.
