Arab-India trade meet begins Tuesday

Abu Dhabi, May 22 (IANS/WAM) The Third Arab-India Partnership Conference begins here Tuesday.

 

The two-day conference whose focus is on development through trade and investment is being organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in association with India's Ministry of External Affairs, league of Arab States and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

 

Ten economy ministers from India and Arab countries and heads of major Indian and Arab companies will take part in the conference, said assistant secretary general of the Arab league of Arab States for Economic Affairs Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Tuwaijeri.

 

The event aims to expand economic, scientific, technological and technical cooperation with India, and explore the opportunities for the Arab world to further deepen and redefine its economic and cultural relations with India.

 

Trade between Arab countries and India reached $255 billion by the end of 2011.

 

Arab investments, and by Gulf countries in particular, in India went up to $125 billion during the past two years. Trade between the UAE and India went up to $67 billion in the same period.
