BCB committee wants Bangladesh tour of Pakistan to be cancelled

Dhaka, Thu, 19 Apr 2012 ANI

Dhaka, Apr 19(ANI): Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) cricket operations committee has reportedly called for the scrapping of the country's tour to Pakistan, saying it is not the right time to visit the country.

"We don't oppose playing against the Pakistan team but we're against playing them in Pakistan as we feel it is still insecure. The fact that we have been offered only two matches itself is a testament of that," The Express Tribune quoted an official, as saying.

His statement came after a Pakistan Cricket Board meeting decided that the tour should not take place as, apart from the security situation, the two matches will neither help Bangladesh nor will it achieve much for Pakistan.

Officials added that it was highly unlikely for Australia to visit Pakistan for the proposed series against Australia even if it receives the International Cricket Council (ICC)'s security clearance.

The meeting also decided to defer Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe by eight months as the hosts declined to entertain the Tigers in August because of an underprepared ground. (ANI)
