New Delhi, Sun, 11 Mar 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Mar 11 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister designate Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh arrived here on Sunday to attend the budget session of Parliament.

"Today, there is no agenda to speak on but to only attend the Lok Sabha," said Akhilesh.

Akhilesh was, on Saturday, named the new chief minister of Uttar Pradesh by his party's lawmakers after SP routed all its rivals in the recently concluded state assembly elections clinching 224 of 403 seats in the state assembly.

He will become the youngest chief minister of Uttar Pradesh after taking oath of office on March 15.

Relatively unknown outside his state until recently, Yadav proved a canny operator and an effective grass roots campaigner, travelling hundreds of kilometres around Uttar Pradesh on a bicycle.

Meanwhile, his father Mulayam Singh Yadav said that he would end hooliganism from the Uttar Pradesh once they get power.

"We are not in the government yet but we get in power, the law and order would be strengthen," said Yadav Sr.

Akhilesh Yadav has been credited with reviving the party's image through his earnest approach and campaigns that won over the state's voters with promises of development. (ANI)
