Poor form, enforced rest sees Harris axed from Oz ODI squad

Melbourne, Feb.29 (ANI): Queenslander Ryan Harris can have no complaints about being dropped from the Australian one-day team. The 32-year-old quick had the worst figures of any regular Australian bowler in the tri-series with just three wickets at an average of 57.

But according to a report in news.com.au, being forced to "rest" in the middle of the series was the worst thing to happen to Harris and yet another indictment on Cricket Australia's confusing rotational policy.

Harris did express his frustration to The Courier-Mail, insisting he was fit and needing regular bowling to maintain his rhythm rather than putting his feet up.

With young tyro James Pattinson recalled to the ODI side in place of Harris, the only positive news for Harris comes from national chairman of selectors John Inverarity who indicated the Queenslander "remains strongly in contention" for the three Tests in the West Indies during April.

Harris will continue to stake his Test claims through the Sheffield Shield competition and he has been added to Queensland's squad for the four-day clash against New South Wales starting at the SCG tomorrow. (ANI)
