US-Pak ties need to be reinvented, says Sherry Rehman

Washington, Tue, 07 Feb 2012 ANI

Washington, Feb 7 (ANI): Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman has said that the relationship between both the countries need to be reinvented on the basis of a parliamentary review on the current bi-lateral status.

Insisting that the current phase of mistrust would not help either side, she hoped that both sides would strive to build a future relationship on the basis of mutual trust, interest and respect, The Dawn reports.

Agreeing with Ambassador Rehman's views on the importance of the relationship, US Special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Ambassador Marc Grossman, said the two countries need to cooperate at this critical time.

He said the US administration looks forward to working with Ambassador Rehman in taking the relationship forward.

The bi-lateral relationship suffered over the Memo Gate issue, and the November 26 NATO attack that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers. Both sides are still trying to mend the strained ties. (ANI)
