Former Everton star Michael Ball fined for derogatory 'gay' tweets

London, Wed, 25 Jan 2012 ANI

London, June 25(ANI): The Football Association has fined former Everton and Manchester City star Michael Ball for posting homophobic comments on Twitter.

Ball had sent derogatory messages to gay actor Antony Cotton, who plays role of factory worker Sean Tully in the soap Coronation Street, The Sun reports.

"Who was on I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! At the time - That f****** queer," Ball wrote about Cotton on his Twitter account.

He also then messaged the gay actor, "Get back to your sewing machine in Corrie you moaning b******."

Leicester City had ended his contract on Monday but stressed that the decision was purely based on footballing grounds. (ANI)
