Disabled Briton gets new limb after a pint at local pub!

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

London, Sept 29 (ANI): Disabled David Huckvale, from Britain, would not have thought that a pint at his local pub could give him a new leg and an opportunity to walk again. The 42-year-old, who had his leg amputated at the age of 29 after a benign tumour was removed, met surgeon Alistair Gibson, who specialises in fitting the computer-controlled limb, at the pub.

Gibson told Huckvale that he had a spare leg that he could fit the latter for free.

The father of two had been limping around in a false leg, which was not fitted properly, forcing him to walk with the help of crutches and sometimes on a wheelchair.

Huckvale had read about the bionic leg available in the US, and had been saving for one.

But he had only managed to put away a fraction of the required 40,000 pounds

He had even bought a lottery ticket every week in the hope he that he might win.

"I have been blessed by a miracle. I can now play in the garden with my two girls. Alistair has given me my life back," the Telegraph quoted Huckvale as telling the Mirror.

Gibson said that he was pleased to have been able to help Huckvale. (ANI)
