Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

Lahore, Sept 29 (ANI): After Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari last week demanded a probe into his wife and former premier Benazir Bhutto's murder late last year, the UN is expected to today announce the names of the fact finding commission members.

Quoting a TV report, the Daily Times reported that United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon will announce the names of the members of the probe commission.

According to the report, the commission will be sent to Islamabad after the members are formally announced.

Zardari and Ban Ki Moon had earlier agreed on the formation of an international autonomous commission to investigate Benazir's death at a meeting at the UN General Assembly on September 26.

Pakistan had been for long demanding a UN probe into Benazir's assassination, but setting up a probe commission was delayed over the fact that who would bear the cost.

Now, it has been decided that the UN would bear the total cost of the probe which is around 40 million dollars. The cost would be generated by the world body through its own resources.

Meanwhile, the UN Secretary General has reportedly asked the head of the UN Security Sir David Venees to immediately visit Pakistan to look into security aspects in Pakistan. (ANI)
