Exhibition on Bhagat Singh's trial opens

New Delhi, Sep 27 (IANS) Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan Saturday inaugurated an exhibition in the Supreme Court Museum on the trial of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

 

'We will never forget the supreme sacrifice made by Bhagat Singh and his associates in their effort to liberate the country from the British rule,' Chief Justice Balakrishnan said.

 

 

The exhibition, second of its kind, after the success of a thematic exhibition on the historic trial of the Alipore Bomb Conspiracy case, was inaugurated in the presence of family members of martyr Bhagat Singh and Jaidev Kapoor.

 

 

Yadvinder Singh Sandhu and Manjula Sandhu, grandson and granddaughter respectively of Bhagat Singh's younger brother Kulbir Singh, attended the function along with their mother Surender Kaur.

 

 

Talking to IANS, Yadvinder Singh expressed his happiness at the apex court's effort to 'create greater awareness of India freedom struggle, among the young people'.

 

 

Manjula said, 'This would inculcate the feeling of nationalism and patriotism among the youth.'

 

 

Yadvinder said his family had given the apex court a rare manuscript, comprising of Bhagat Singh's diaries written duing 1929-30 while he was lodged in Lahore Jail for the killing of British police officer John Saunders.
