Junior Davis Cup: Yuki and Saurabh take India into semis
New Delhi, Sep 27 (IANS) Yuki Bhambri and Saurabh Singh won their singles matches against Brazil to carry India into the semi-finals of the Junior Davis Cup with a 2-1 victory at San Luis Potosi in Mexico.
Both the players rallied from a set down to win their matches, Saurabh defeating Henrique Tsukamoto 4-6, 6-2,6-1 while Yuki overcoming Guilherme Clezar 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Saurabh and S. V. Abhishek, though lost the inconsequential doubles rubber against Henrique Tsukamoto and Tiago Fernandes 6-7 (6), 6-7 (5).
Second-seeded India topped Group D and next play Group C toppers, third seedes US, Sunday.
Suarabh, who had lost his singles matches against Mexico and Britain, was third time lucky as he played the first match of the rubber again. But this time he reversed the trend after losing the first set.
He came back strongly in the second set and broke Henrique twice to make it a set all. In the decider, he dropped just one game, to put India 1-0 up.
In the second singles, Yuki got off to a flying start breaking Clezar in the very first game only to be broken back in the next. He was then broken in the sixth game to go a set down.
But Yuki rallied and in a clinical play dropped just two games in the two subsequent sets to ensure India a berth in the semi-finals.
Diffusion caused Jupiter's 'Red Spot Junior' to turn from red to white.
