Time running out for Hauritz, as other Oz tweakers make Sheffield Shield impact

Sydney, Fri, 19 Nov 2010 ANI

Sydney, Nov.19 (ANI): Time appears to be running out for Test off-spinner Nathan Huaritz.

In a match where he was supposedly playing for his Test future, Hauritz was not given the ball by New South Wales skipper Simon Katich on the seamer's paradise until the final over of day two, the 186th of the match. By that point, 33 wickets had already fallen, including two to Huaritz's rival, Xavier Doherty.

The embattled spinner conceded seven runs, and has just 90 more to play with to claim a wicket.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the offie was under attack from tweakers around the country yesterday.

In Hobart, Stephen O'Keefe - a future rival - bagged two of England's top six, including the prized scalp of Kevin Pietersen with one of the balls of the summer.

"I think everyone recognised the significance of what was going on," said Doherty, who claimed 2-45 from 21 overs. Doherty claimed two second-innings wickets for Tasmania but did not present any new evidence for Andrew Hilditch to consider.

He bowled steadily in his two spells, tied up an end and made the occasional breakthrough. (ANI)
