PCB boss Butt reportedly planning to bring back 'close friend' Yawar in board

Lahore, Sep 29 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt is reportedly planning to offer former manager Yawar Saeed an important position in the PCB.

According to media reports, the PCB chairman wants to retain Yawar with him in the board, and has started planning in this regard, the Daily Times reported.

If the Pakistani players are able to come out clean from the spot-fixing allegations, then there are chances that Yawar may be assigned an important position in the PCB.

He may be appointed the Chief Operating Officer in place of Wasim Bari, or a member of the governing board, or Special Assistant to the Chairman, the paper said.

The managerial tenure of 75-year-old Yawar has been full of controversies, but he remained the manager of the national cricket team, being a close friend of Butt.

Earlier this week, Yawar had stepped down from his post of team manager in the wake of match-fixing allegations that have rocked the cricketing world.

"I will not take charge as manager of the national team again," Yawar said.

However, he added, "If Ijaz wants me to continue I can't say no to him. He is an old friend and if he says I must continue in interest of Pakistan cricket, I will listen. But I will definitely try to convince him the time is right for me to step down." (ANI)
