Muslims donate blood for Delhi blast victims

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

Lucknow/New Delhi, Sept 15 (ANI): In a gesture that sent a message of brotherhood and harmony, Muslims in Lucknow donated blood for victims injured in the serial blasts, which shook Delhi on Saturday.

The donation camp saw scores of Muslims coming in to donate blood. They said this gesture was aimed at dispelling the general notion of communal rift between Hindus and Muslims.

"There are some parties which try to create a rift between the Hindus and Muslims, and try to get political mileage from it. So to dispel the general notion, the Muslims have gathered here to donate blood for the blast victims, no matter what religion or castes they belong to," said Maulana Kalbe Jawad, a Muslim scholar.

Muslims came to donate blood for a humanitarian cause to help the blast victims.

"By donating blood here, we want to send across a message, that till the time humanity is alive in our hearts, we will continue to help each other and fight terrorism till our last," said Najim Hussain, a donor.

The bombings in Delhi came after serial blasts in Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad, which claimed more than hundred lives and injured many more.

Indian Mujahideen, which has claimed responsibility for several major attacks in recent months, sent e-mails to media organisations saying it was responsible for the blasts. (ANI)

It is indeed a commendable action by Maulana Kalbe Jawad. But unfortunately our mainstream media is hungry about news which create enmity, hatred and rift among communities as a result of which this news was selectively missed by Print as well as Electronic media.
