Ferozepur, Sep.15 (ANI): The Punjabi Durbar programme of Pakistan Radio has been exploiting the controversy over the proposal of establishing a Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee unit in Haryana.

Aware that the proposal has been opposed by the SGPC, the Pakistan Radio has been giving publicity to the proposal.

The exploitation of the issue by the Pakistan Radio has angered the Sikhs in the border areas of Punjab. The Sikhs view Pakistan's efforts to exploit the issue unwarranted.

They point out that the Sikh community depends on the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee for its all major decisions related to the community and its culture.

Jathedar Gurpal Singh, a member of the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, said: "Pakistan should stop its propaganda. This is our internal matter and we will settle it amongst ourselves."

"Right from the time of Guru Nanak Devji till date, the Sikh community has settled all its matters on its own without any interference by outsiders. This issue is nothing more than a family dispute which can be settled within no time," Singh added.Sardar Charan Singh of Akali Dal (Badal) said: "Sikhs can settle the matter by themselves. We know how to solve internal disputes. We have been doing that for hundreds of years and the Indian freedom movement has many examples of that."

"If Pakistan really wants to do something for the Sikhs, first of all they should separate Prabhandak Committee from the Waqf board in Pakistan and give them full freedom, just as they enjoy in India, " he added. (ANI)
