Jamaica Police nab suspected drug lord

Mexico City, June 23 (ANI): Jamaican law enforcement authorities have arrested a reputed gang leader, who was wanted in the United States on gun and drug charges.

 

Christopher Coke was peacefully taken into custody while in a vehicle with the Rev. Al Miller, an evangelical preacher who helped arrange the recent surrender of Coke's brother and sister, reports the New York Times.

 

Owen Ellington, commissioner of the police, the Jamaican Constabulary Force, told reporters that the two men were en route to the American embassy when the police stopped the car and arrested Coke.

 

Coke is willing to forgo an extradition hearing and face trial in the United States.

 

Witnesses outside a police station in St. Catherine Parish said Coke was wearing a bulletproof vest, and was seen being escorted to a helicopter. (ANI)
