Pakistan approaches Interpol to get Kasab's custody

Islamabad, Sat, 03 Apr 2010 ANI

Islamabad, Apr 3 (ANI): In a new development in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case, Pakistan on Saturday approached the Interpol seeking custody of Ajmal Kasab and Fahim Ansari.

Pakistan urged Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice to arrest Kasab and Ansari, who are currently undergoing trial in India for Mumbai terror attack case.

Special Public Prosecutor Malik Rab Nawaz Moon stated this in an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi.

"We are having meetings today and tomorrow and will decide on approaching the High Court and Supreme Court to challenge recent court orders," Moon said.

The anti terror court is onducting trial of the seven 26/11 attack accused, including Lashkar -e-Taiba (LeT) chief Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.

The judge also adjourned the hearing in the case till April 17.

Moon sought maximum time to challenge a Lahore High Court order saying the trial of seven suspects could not be separated from that of Kasab and Ansari.

The prosecution also said it needed time to challenge the anti-terrorism court's decision to dismiss its application to name Kasab and Ansari as "proclaimed offenders."(ANI)
